The Raindance AI trend: what you are seeing

The effect is a change of setting: an ordinary portrait becomes a short, imagined performance. Here is how the picture, movement and song work together.

The short answer

“Raindance AI” describes a video format built around an AI-created performance and the Dave and Tems track. The AI changes the scene around a person’s photo. The actual song is added separately when the creator edits or publishes the post.

Start with the recording, then separate the visuals

Dave and Tems are credited on “Raindance,” track five of The Boy Who Played the Harp. Universal Music announced the official Lagos-shot music video on January 9, 2026. Those are the music release and video credits, not the launch history of this website. Read the label’s announcement.

The fan-video format uses a new cast and an imagined setting. A familiar portrait becomes a performer on a pier, with warm backlight and gentle camera movement. Rain and reception lights offer different moods. The resemblance to a music video comes from the framing and atmosphere; it does not require reusing footage from the official video.

The three pieces of a finished post

  1. The starting photo: a recognizable face gives the viewer a point of comparison. Use an image you have permission to upload and publish.
  2. The generated scene: a short continuous shot makes the change of setting visible. Our outputs last eight seconds and arrive without sound.
  3. The edit and audio: place the photo before the clip if you want a reveal, then choose licensed music in your posting app. Audio rights and availability depend on your use and account.

Solo, duet or a different atmosphere?

Solo keeps the attention on one performer. A duet needs separate portraits and permission from both people. Our duet mode asks the model to place both people in one continuous shot; it does not cut between two independently filmed performances.

Choose Golden-Hour Pier for warm open-water light, Rain on the Pier for cooler tones, or Reception Lights for a celebration backdrop. The template guide lets you compare the setup choices. AI can alter details, so watch a sample and inspect your result before sharing it.

What the name does not tell you

A search for this trend does not prove that the recording was synthesized, that any artist endorses a generator, or that a template includes music rights. Our song-credit explainer separates these questions.

A generator may charge for processing even when browsing and uploading are free. See what is free on this site before deciding to render.

Make your own version

Prepare a clear portrait, choose a scene and mode, then review the price before generating. Our step-by-step tutorial covers the result link, silent download and photo-to-video edit.

Tell viewers that realistic footage is AI-generated. TikTok’s disclosure guidance applies even when the result looks convincing. Avoid misleading captions and get consent from anyone represented.

Questions

Is this a dance tutorial?

This page explains an AI photo-to-video format. You do not need to learn choreography to use the preset scenes.

Does the generator make the soundtrack?

No. The downloaded file is silent. The music is a separate choice in your editor or posting app.

Can I use the format without this website?

Yes. You can assemble a photo and video in an editor or use another generation tool. Check its input requirements, charges and export rights before creating a clip.
